Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo has been closed for the last couple of years while the new art museum, which will be the largest in Scandinavia, is being built centrally in Oslo on Aker Brygge harbour promenade.
While the museum is closed, the public have no access to the great works in the collection: Baldisholteppet, Evard Munch’s ‘Skrik’ (‘The Scream’) or Livets Dans (‘The Dance of Life’), to say nothing of the fantastic fairy-tale worlds of Theodor Kittelsen and Gerhard Munthe. But the museum’s web shop gives you the opportunity to retain the memory of them so you can look forward to seeing them again when the museum opens. This is planned in 2021.
The motifs are reproduced on fine 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles in several varieties; there are also memory games with either Munch or Fairy-tale themes. It will also shortly be possible to purchase scarves in a wool-silk mixture or pure silk with printed motifs. They are all packaged in fine gift boxes, which add to the feeling of luxury.
