The Hanseatic League was a federation of merchants who wanted security when transporting goods, and they shared common business interests vis à vis the world around them. The Hanseatic townships were groundbreakers with reference to our contemporary view of finance, and the concept still plays an important part in Europe, both businesswise, politically, and culturally.
Lübeck, which is an old Hanseatic town, houses a young museum on a traditional site. The modern museum building, which has been awarded architectural awards, merges harmoniously with the ancient Dominican monastery. This, along with the old town centre, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We have gathered inspiration for the museum’s own collection from the brick façade of the new gabled house. We have created a pattern which visually links the products together and interacts with the logo of the museum and the characteristic maritime stripes.
